Enigmatic galloper So Si Bon had never won first up in five previous preparations, but the talented son of So You Think changed all that at Flemington on Saturday when powering clear to win the Group III VRC Aurie’s Star Handicap over 1200 metres.

Tasmania continues to punch well above its weight on the big stage with the latest star being the Scott Brunton-trained Dundeel gelding The Inevitable who made a winning seasonal debut over 1000 metres at Flemington on Saturday at the expense of the odd-on favourite Assertive Approach.

The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained Dawn Passage stamped himself a colt with a future when he defeated a handy field by upwards of three and a half lengths when making his career debut at Randwick in January and it did not take long for the son of Dawn Approach (IRE) to stamp himself as a player in the big three-year-old races in the spring.
