One to Watch – Warwick Farm

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday July 31
When Anthony Cummings says he’ll be ‘disappointed if she isn’t a stakes-winner by the end of the spring’ , we naturally want to know more about this impressive winner at Warwick Farm on Wednesday.

A homebred for Julia Ritchie’s Bangaloe Stud Syndicate, flashy High Chaparral (IRE) filly Making Whoopee has been given plenty of time to mature and until today had raced just once for a second at Wyong back in March.

The three year-old was tuned up with a recent trial win and went to the post favourite for the 1100 metre maiden.

She jumped quickly for Nash Rawiller and took up the lead, coasting along in front before dashing clear down the running to win by a length and a half.

"She’s a filly that has always shown us plenty of talent and I’ll be disappointed if she’s not a stakes-winnMuch missed High Chaparral is the sire of Making Whoopeeer by the end of the spring,” Cummings said.

Making Whoopee is the first foal from unplaced Fastnet Rock mare Honeymoon Cruise, a three-quarter sister to outstanding Hong Kong trained sprinter Mr Stunning, winner of the Group I HK International Sprint twice.

Honeymoon Cruise has a weanling filly by Air Force Blue (USA) and is in foal to High Chaparral’s champion son So You Think, so will produce a three-quarter sibling to Making Whoopee this spring.
