One to Watch – Ireland

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday July 2

We look at a lot of race results at Breednet and when a three year-old half-sister by Wootton Bassett (GB) to Australia’s champion sire elect of 2025, Zoustar, breaks her maiden that is always going to catch our attention.

Back in 2014, Zoustar’s dam Zouzou was offered at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale where she was purchased by Coolmore for $775,000 and sent to Ireland.

Covered by Galileo in her first three years she produced two winners headed by the stakes-winner Emperor of the Sun before visiting No Nay Never twice to produce another winner and then in 2021 she was covered by Wootton Bassett in his first year at Coolmore.

That mating resulted in three year-old filly Beyond Dreams, who is raced by Michael Tabor and trained by Dermot Weld.

She had one start last year for a third and then reappeared in a maiden at Roscommon overnight where she was sent off favourite with Chris Hayes to ride.

Beyond Dreams did her best work late to win by half a length in the 7 ½ f maiden

A minor winner by Redoute’s Choice, Zouzou has had 10 foals to race for seven winners with Zoustar her second foal and Beyond Dreams her 11th and most likely final foal.

Pedigree

Connections will no doubt try and get some Black Type for Beyond Dreams, who has plenty of relatives in Australia.

Her sire Wootton Bassett (GB) will be back at Coolmore Australia this spring at a fee of $385,000 and her half-brother Zoustar is set to be crowned Champion Australian Sire for Widden Stud and will stands at a fee of $275,000.
