Amelia’s Jewel Family Produces Wootton Bassett 2YO SW

Tara Madgwick - Friday July 25

Wootton Bassett (GB) added yet another new two year old stakes-winner to his tally overnight in Ireland with the Group III Silver Flash Stakes (7 ½ f) at Leopardstown going to a filly that is closely related to Aussie Group I winner Amelia’s Jewel.

Trained by Aidan O’Brien and ridden by Ryan Moore, Composing was sent out favourite  after breaking her maiden at her second start at The Curragh last month.

She raced on the pace and dominated her rivals, surging clear to win by more than three lengths.

“We're delighted with her, she's a lovely straightforward filly,” said Aidan O'Brien.

“She won lovely the last day and Ryan loved her. She was very professional. She'll go for the Debutante Stakes (G2) at the Curragh next and could be a filly for the Moyglare G1).”

Composing was purchased from Goffs Orby Book 1 for 300,000 euros.

Composing was bought from the Ridge Manor Stud draft at the Goffs Orby Yearling Sale Book 1 by MV Magnier for €300,000 and was bred by Renzo Forni.

She is the first foal of Group II winning mare Epona Plays, a half-sister by Epsom Derby winning sire Australia to Group III winner Dolce Strega and stakes-placed Bumbasina (IRE), who calls Australia home these days and is the dam of Group I winning $4.1million earner Amelia’s Jewel and Group III winning $2million earner Bosustow.

Amelia's Jewel sold for $3.8million at Inglis Chairman's Sale this year.

Amelia’s Jewel was offered at the Inglis Chairman’s Sale this year where she was bought by Tom Magnier for $3.8million.

Bumbasina had a yearling colt by Amelia’s Jewel’s sire Siyouni offered at Magic Millions this year in the Segenhoe Stud draft and he was snapped up by WA trainer Luke Fernie for $625,000.

Composing is the 68th stakes-winner for Wootton Bassett and is his fifth juvenile stakes-winner in the Northern Hemisphere this year.

He returns to Coolmore Australia this spring at a fee of $385,000.
