Levendi Heading to Stud in Tasmania
The Australian Derby winner Levendi (Pierro) will stand as a stallion in Tasmania after topping tonight’s Inglis Digital May (Late) Online Auction, selling to McShane Bank for $365,000.
Group I winning Pierro stallion Levendi will miss the upcoming autumn carnival and faces possible retirement to stud after fracturing his pelvis in a trial at Warwick Farm on Monday morning.
He might have won a Golden Slipper and been the Champion 2YO of his generation, but as a sire Pierro is taking his brilliance in a new direction with a Group I VRC Oaks winner in the spring in Pinot and now a Group I ATC Australian Derby winner in the autumn.
Coolmore's Golden Slipper hero Pierro already has an Oaks winner on his sire resume in Pinot and may well end up with a Derby winner after progressive colt Levendi scored a determined victory in the Group II ATC Tulloch Stakes at Rosehill on Saturday.
A brilliant performer who won as a 2YO before going on to capture 3 Group races at 3 – culminating in the time honoured Group 1 ATC Derby (also won by Dundeel). A son of the rapidly rising influence, Pierro, has Speed … Strength … Stamina … Spirit. First runners include Tempt The Gods, Bella Chinkara, Zany Girl etc.
