Invincible Colt on Target for Blue Diamond

Tara Madgwick - Saturday January 25

The open juvenile event at Randwick on Saturday always looked good on paper with some highly rated fillies and two expensive colts engaged and at the winning post it was I Am Invincible’s Rulership that claimed the victory and he did it in style!

The Peter and Paul Snowden trained colt was sent out favourite after showing good ability in three trials and raced up to expectation with a scintillating win.

Now that's a happy horse! He jumped fast for Nash Rawiller to cross and lead and always looked comfortable before skipping clear to win the 1000 metre scamper by more than two lengths in a slick 57.28 seconds.

In contrast , his stablemate Mount Fuji, the $2.8million Inglis Easter sale-topper, tracked the leader and looked to enjoy a good enough run, but dropped out sharply at the furlong to finish last with stewards no doubt to order a post-race vet report.

“He is ultra professional in everything he does,” said Paul Snowden of Rulership.

“He’s right on target for a Blue Diamond preparation and will go down there about a week before the Prelude and then straight into the race.”

Nash Rawiller picked up the late ride on Rulership after Hugh Bowman decided not to ride today due to personal reasons and he was delighted with the colt.

“He was electric out of the gates and then was happy to save himself for the business end,” Rawiller said.

“You can only go on what you feel, but it’s been a while since I’ve sat on one as exciting as him.”

A $900,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Yarraman Park draft for China Horse Club/Newgate Bstock/Stonestreet, Rulership carries the China Horse Club colours but runs for a virtual who’s who of bloodstock investors that look to have a seriously nice colt going forward.

Rulership as a yearling

Rulership is a full brother to Jedastar, who was second in a Group III MRC Blue Diamond Prelude and is the third winner from stakes-winning Dehere (USA) mare Devoirs, a half-sister to Group III winner Debellatio from Group II winner Velasco.

Devoirs has no yearling for the sales this year, but does have a filly foal by Hellbent and is back in foal to the Group I winning son of I Am Invincible.
