Fighting Sun Wins The Battle

- Thursday July 18
Bred and raced by industry powerhouse, Gooree Park Stud, Fighting Sun 2YO, Battle Guardian, has made a hugely impressive debut at Gosford today, winning the Ettalong Diggers Handicap over 1000m.

Fighting SunAfter sitting just off the leaders until turning for home, Battle Guardian surged to the lead over the final stages and shot clear to score comfortably. Adding to the performance was the Fighting Sun youngster's inexperience and he will be clearly improvedwith the run.

Sent out race favourite, Gooree and trainers Gai Waterhouse Racing & Adrian Bott have had a huge opinion of the 2YO for quite some time and the win comes as no massive surprise. Indeed, a delighted Gooree Park Stud manager, Andrew Baddock, considers Battle Guardian "a stakes horse when he gets over some ground".

Battle Guardian is one of four winners for the multiple stakes placed Snowland mare, Devil's Arcade, including the 4-time winner, Bel Diablo, who is by Fighting Sun's Sun Stud barnmate, Bel Esprit.

With recent winners including the exciting youngsters, Preston, Judicator, Fight and Miss Scorcher, FIGHTING SUN has plenty waiting in the wings. Covering nearly 700 mares in his first five seasons at stud, we've only seen 20% of his foal crop race!

An unbeaten son of the massive speed influence, Northern Meteor, FIGHTING SUN stands at a fee of $13,750 with no payment until live foal.
