Fighting Sun Fires Up for Spring

Breednet - Wednesday August 28
Sire sons of Northern Meteor are more than making their mark and Sun Stud's Fighting Sun is right there with them after siring 10 winners from 28 runners since the start of the season.

Fighting SunHis winner to runner strike rate is the best of any stallion with more than 10 winners this season and highlights what great value he is at a fee of $13,750.

Fighting Sun has some interesting three year-olds running for him at present including undefeated gelding Roccabascerana, who won his second race at Morphettville last Saturday by more than three lengths for the David Jolly stable and has now won his first two by a combined margin of 10 lengths.

The Tony McEvoy trained filly Aten will shoot for back to back wins at Morphettville this Saturday and like Roccabascerana is entered for big races this spring, the Group I MRC Thousand Guineas for her and the Caulfield Guineas for Roccabascarena, who is one of four by his sire entered for the prestigious event.

A stakes-winner at two, lightly raced four year-old Chess Star will resume from a spell at Caulfield on Saturday for the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott stable and has drawn favourably for his return.

The Champion First Season sire in Victoria with his first crop, Fighting Sun has great numbers coming through to build on his initial success and covered 129 mares last spring.
