Fastnet Rock Filly Wins G2 Percy Sykes

Tara Madgwick - Saturday April 13
Right there with the best two year-old fillies this season, blue-blooded Fastnet Rock filly Anaheed was a deserving winner of the $1million Group II ATC Percy Sykes Stakes at Randwick on Saturday.

Prepared by Peter and Paul Snowden, Anaheed won the Group II ATC Sweet Embrace Stakes, was fourth in the Group II ATC Reisling and then a last start sixth in the Golden Slipper when not suited by the heavy ground.

Back on top of the ground, she showed her class when leading all the way after jumping from a wide gate for Tim Clark and hung on to win the 1200 metre dash by a nose over Godolphin runner Flit.

Anaheed - images Steve Hart"She went good in the Golden Slipper when she was never happy on the ground so we expected her to run well," said Tim Clark.

Foaled and raised at Coolmore, Anaheed is a homebred for Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum and has won over $950,000 with three wins from six starts. She is a half-brother to stakes-placed Farooq and is the third winner for Group I winning Testa Rossa mare Rostova.

Tim Stakemire purchased Rostova for the Sheikh for $850,000 at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale in 2015 when she was in foal to Frankel, a mating that produced promising three year-old colt Farooq.

Rostova has a yearling colt by Medaglia D'Oro (USA) that was sold by Segenhoe Stud as agent at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale for just $25,000.

Rostova is now in foal again to Anaheed's sire Fastnet Rock.
