Milestone for Fastnet Rock

Champion sire Fastnet Rock clocked up his 100th Graded stakes-winner at the weekend in the US when five year-old entire Desert Stone captured the Group II San Gabriel Stakes at Santa Anita.

Champion sire Fastnet RockA full brother to Group III winner Euginio, the Richard Baltas trained entire scored a neck win in the 1 and 1/8th mile contest, his third win from 16 starts.

Third in the Group I Santa Anita Frank E Kilroe Mile last year, Desert Stone was overdue for a Black Type win and is the 155th stakes-winner worldwide for his sire.

Desert Stone is also a half-brother to stakes-winner Handassa and is the third stakes-winner for good producer Starstone.

Fastnet Rock has been enjoying his usual good season in Australia with stakes-winners such as Dreamforce, Anaheed and Tuscan Queen, plus promising debut 2YO winners Return with Honour and Fresh, his 26 entries for the upcoming Magic Millions Yearling Sale sure to be in hot demand.
