Prince of Caviar Breaks the Ice

Tara Madgwick - Thursday September 27
Second at his first two runs back from a spell this preparation, Black Caviar's second born Prince of Caviar shook off maiden status at Bendigo on Thursday with a well deserved win.

Prince of Caviar pictured as a foal in 2015Sent out favourite as he was at his two previous outings, the Team Hawkes trained son of Sebring was ridden a positive race by Luke Nolen and forged clear to win the 1300 metre maiden by more than a length.

It was the fourth start for Prince of Caviar, who is improving with racing, but looks unlikely to scale the heights of his celebrated dam.

Black Caviar has a two year-old Snitzel filly to follow and a yearling filly by More Than Ready (USA) with I Am Invincible chose as her partner last spring.

Prince of Caviar is the second winner for Black Caviar with her first foal Oscietra, a filly by Exceed and Excel, also successful scoring two wins from five starts.
