Star Mares Quinella G2 Sheraco Stakes

Tara Madgwick - Saturday September 8
Star Thoroughbreds have an outstanding team of horses in work with champion trainer Chris Waller and enjoyed a satisfying result in the Group II ATC Sheraco Stakes at Rosehill on Saturday when the purple and white stars delivered the quinella with Invincibella nosing out her stablemate Noire.

A five-year-old daughter of I Am Invincible, Invincibella was last seen finishing fifth in the Group I Tatts Tiara and was fit and ready to fire at her first run off a short break.

Invincibella returns a winnerShe surged late for Hugh Bowman to score a short half head win over Foxwedge mare Noire, who is well overdue for a stakes win of her own.

"Well done to Denise Martin (Star Thoroughbreds), she's a tireless worker in her field and I'm so grateful to be training for her, it was a very good result," Waller said.

"Invincibella been a really good horse, she's just gradually taken steps all the way through her career and that's what an owner wants and that's what a punter sitting at home wants.

"She very rarely lets us down if she gets condition to suit, doesn't always happen, but she's an exciting horse to train.

"Noire is a year younger than Invincibella so I think the best from her is still yet to come and the beauty of the spring is that there is so many options, we'll try and find nice races without clashing."

Waller said Invincibella would head to the $500,000 Group II Golden Pendant (1400m) in two weeks while the upcoming target for Noire wasn't as clear cut.

A $185,000 Magic Millions purchase for Star Thoroughbreds from the Sledmere Stud draft, Invincibella has the impressive record of seven wins and 11 placings from 28 starts with prizemoney in excess of $1.2 million.

Invincibella is a half-sister to Group placed Secret Blaze and is the first foal of unraced Galileo (IRE) mare Abscond, who comes from the family of Group I winner The Hind. Abscond was covered last spring by Extreme Choice.

Invincibella is the fourth stakes-winner this season for I Am Invincible, who is fully booked at a fee of $192,500 at Yarraman Park.
