Top Class Snitzel Son for Victoria

Until now, Victorian breeders looking to utilize the blood of reigning champion sire Snitzel had to look outside their home state to find a quality option, but that has all changed with the arrival of top class sprinter Thronum to Sun Stud.

Thronum in full flightA $300,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Sun Stud, Thronum was a late November foal, but quickly justified his pricetag winning two of his first three starts at two before claiming a stakes win in the Listed ATC Rosebud Stakes at his first outing at three.

An interrupted three year-old season and stable change from Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott to Lindsay Park Racing saw Thronum hit top form for the Hayes, Hayes and Dabernig combination.

He scored a dazzling all the way win in the Group II MVRC Australia Stakes over 1200 metres beating a quality field including Group I winner Brave Smash to clock the fastest time by an entire since the race became the Australia Stakes.

Thronum then went painfully close to nailing a Group I win when leading everywhere but on the post, when narrowly beaten by Hellbent in the Group I MVRC William Reid Stakes (1200m). He was pressured in front and ran 3 sub 11 second sectionals before being pipped on the line by a swooper.

Timeform ratings demonstrate the genuine class and speed of Thronum 119 (Service Fee: $17,600), who compares favourably with Russian Revolution 120 (Service fee: $55,000) and reveals exceptional value.
