The Simon Miller trained filly had shown good ability at the trials and was sent out favourite for the 1100 metre juvenile event.

A $60,000 Inglis Classic purchase for Aquanita Racing from the Newgate Farm draft, Shapita was bred by SF Bloodstock and is a three-quarter sister to stakes-placed Wassergeist and is the fifth winner from Group II winner Te Akau Rose.
Te Akau Rose has a weanling filly by Wandjina that has been withdrawn from the Magic Millions Weanling Sale and was covered last spring by Flying Artie.
Shapita
is a nice prospect for Foxwedge, who has sired two Group I winning fillies in
Foxplay and Volpe Veloce and stands at a fee of $22,000 at Newgate Farm this
spring.
