Eight Yearlings for Goodwood Farm at Inglis Classic

Kerrie Tibbey’s Goodwood Farm have a rich history of producing G1 winners with the likes of Private Eye, Dance Hero, Rebel Dane, Sacred Choice and Manawanui and at this year’s Inglis Classic yearling sale will offer eight yearlings by a mix of proven and second crop sires.

With over $22m in earnings from just those five G1 winners, who between them have captured ten individual elite level wins including the Golden Slipper, Doncaster Handicap, Salinger Stakes, Manikato Stakes, Sir Ruper Clarke Stakes and the Champagne Stakes.

G1 Golden Rose Winner Manawanui - $45,000 Goodwood Farm Inglis Classic Graduate

Purchased for just $45,000 from Goodwood Farm’s Inglis Classic draft, Oratorio gelding Manawanui had an exceptional 3yo spring campaign, winning the G3 Up & Coming Stakes, G1 Golden Rose, G2 Stan Fox Stakes and then G2 Vase, also finishing a narrow second to Helmet in the G1 Caulfield Guineas from six campaign starts.

Lot 317: Portland Sky x Promada (NZ), by Proisir colt

From the second crop of G1 Oakleigh Plate winner Portland Sky, Lot 317 is the second foal out of the Proisir mare Promada, a half-sister to the dual Listed winner Bandipur.

From the family of G1 winners Neroli and Benfica, this colt is bred on the same double Danehill pedigree cross as G1 winners Schwarz, Mizzy and Skybird.

 “We’ve been really impressed with the Portland Sky stock, and Lot 317 is a big, strong colt with lots of bone, while still being light of his feet. Simply a beautiful mover.”

Lot 618: Written By x Ajay’s Ace (NZ), by Charm Spirit colt

A son of Written By, Lot 618 is the second foal out of the Charm Spirit mare Ajay’s Ace, a half-sister to the G3 placed Rip Into Ghia, from the family of G1 winners Planet Rock and Missisippi Burning as well as stakes winners Galroof, Sabrage, Pinnacles, Lord Mick, Gorky Park.

Lot 782: Dundeel (NZ) x Enood, by Deep Impact filly

Bay filly by Dundeel, sire of nine individual G1 winners, this filly is the third foal of the winning Deep Impact mare Enood, a half-sister to Listed winner Manhattan Street.

From the family of Horse of the Year and multiple G1 winner Lankan Rupee, G1 winner Tavago, G2 winner Count De Rupee and many more stakes performers.

Deep Impact is the broodmare sire of 115 stakes performers including six individual G1 winners.

“Not an overly big filly, but there’s no doubt she’s a racehorse. She’s sassy, and she will surely run!”

Lot 57: Harry Angel x Harlem Shuffle, by Oratorio colt

By the sire of G1 winners Tom Kitten, War Machine and Private Harry, this Harry Angel colt is out of Harlem Shuffle, a half-sister to Listed winner Harlem River, who is in turn the dam of the Listed-winning, G1 placed Harlem Queen and Restricted Listed placed Lady Harlem.

From the family of Champion 3YO Colt Yes Yes Yes, as well as G1 winner In Her Time, this colt is bred on the exact Harry Angel x Danehill pedigree cross that has produced the dual G2-winning, multiple G1 placed Arkansaw Kid.

Lot 345: Pierata x Regal Poyse, by Sepoy colt

A son of Pierro’s G1 All Aged Stakes winner Pierata, Lot 345 is the third foal out of the Sepoy mare Regal Poyse, a half-sister to the stakes placed Just Dreaming.

From the family of stakes winners Self Flit, Bundy Lad and more, this colt is out of a Sepoy mare, broodmare sire of 18 stakes performers headed by the G1 winner Pignan.

Lot 501: Captivant x Tempting Lady, by Northern Meteor colt

From the second crop of the G1 ATC Champagne Stakes winner Captivant, Lot 501 is out of the Northern Meteor mare Tempting Lady, a three-quarter-sister to the dam of G3 winner Tempt Me Not and Listed winner Castanya, and a half-sister the dam of G2 winner Good Standing.

From the family of dual G1 winner Tempest Morn and fellow stakes winners Planet Voyage, Palm Beach, Attention and more, this colt is a half-brother to the Listed winner Smart Meteor.

Lot 504: Tiger Of Malay x Texas Dancer, by Zoffany filly

From the second crop of Extreme Choice’s G2 BRC Sires’ Produce Stakes winner Tiger of Malay, Lot 504 is a grey filly out of the Zoffany mare Texas Dancer, a half-sister to G1 winner Rebel Dane, himself the sire of dual G1-winning 2yo Fireburn.

Interestingly, Rebel Dane was foaled and raised at the Goodwood Farm while Fireburn also spent time at the farm as a young horse.

Lot 605: Pinatubo (IRE) x Zoo Station, by Animal Kingdom colt

From the second southern hemisphere crop of Darley’s Shamardal stallion Pinatubo, Lot 605 is the first foal out of the six-time-winning Animal Kingdom mare Zoo Station, from the family of stakes winners Dash For Gretna, Little Strike, Lady Fallon and Tipsy Tarragon.

With each of the five G1-winning graduates mentioned above selling at an average yearling price of just under $60,000, and earning an average of $4.5m each, surely Goodwood Farm’s eight Inglis Classic yearlings will have strong appeal.
