Impressive First Winner for St Marks Basilica

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday June 3

Coolmore shuttler St Mark’s Basilica (Fr) was the 2021 European Horse of the Year and the son of Siyouni is on the board as a sire with his first winner after Rogue Supremacy scored an impressive debut victory.

Trained by David O’Meara and ridden by Daniel Tudhope, Rogue Supremacy raced on the pace and found another gear when challenged to forge clear and with the 5 ½ juvenile maiden at Wetherby by two and a quarter lengths.

“It was very straightforward. Rogue Supremacy jumped well, but there was no real pace on early. I would have been happy to get a lead, but he ends up in front and we went fairly steady fractions early on and he was in cruise control after that,” said Daniel Tudhope.

“He's a horse we like a lot at home and it's a good start.”

Rogue Supremacy made £60,000 when offered as a yearling at the Goffs UK Premier Sale and then was purchased by Henry Lascelles / Rogues Gallery Racing for £160,000 at the Goffs UK Breeze Up Sale.
