Invincible Double for Weir

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday January 31
Champion trained Darren Weir featured at Sandown on Wednesday with two winners by Yarraman Park's super sire I Am Invincible, one of them a full brother to dual Group I winner and budding sire Brazen Beau.

Winning the opening race was three year-old colt Hermanito, and while it's unlikely he will ever be as good as big brother Brazen Beau, he is now a winner after scoring by half a neck over 1400 metres.

Placed at four previous runs, Hermanito was well overdue for the win and will take plenty of confidence out of the race going forward.

Not offered at auction, he runs for a syndicate put together by Grant Morgan's Ontrack Thoroughbreds, who also bought and raced his famous older brother.

He is the third winner for Group III placed Sansadee, whose current yearling, a filly by Hallowed Crown will be offered by Murrulla Stud as Lot 30 at the 2018 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.

Holy Blade as a yearlingWeir followed up to win the Benchmark 64 event over 1000 metres with speedy colt Holy Blade, who dashed clear to win by two and a half lengths as favourite.

A $180,000 Inglis Classic purchase for YuLong Investments from the Yarraman Park draft, Holy Blade has won two of five starts and is one of eight winners for stakes-winner Amphritite, who comes from the family of Group I winners Allez Wonder and Tivaci.

Amphritite has a Sizzling colt that will be offered at the 2018 Magic Millions Tasmanian Yearling Sale by Booralite Park as Lot 11.
