A new Group I winner last weekend has added further fuel to the fire that has ignited from this nick which might seem obvious, but has still surprised with its formidable potency.

There have been 57 runners that have produced 44 winners (77.2%), with 15 of those stakes-winners making for 26.3% stakes-winners to runners.

Galileo mares are undoubtedly more plentiful in the Northern Hemisphere and of those 15 stakes-winners nine have resulted from Fastnet Rock's coverings in Ireland, but that doesn't mean Australian breeders can't get in on the action.

The Australian Studbook shows some 140 odd broodmares in Australia by Galileo and five of those were among the 154 mares covered by Fastnet Rock here last spring.

For breeders looking to top up their bloodstock portfolio with some international purchases, the European breeding stock sales are packed with fillies and mares by Galileo.

European breeders are already on board with this nick in a big way!

Of the 133 mares Fastnet Rock covered in Ireland last year, 49 were by Galileo which was approximately 37% of his total Northern Hemisphere book.

For yearling buyers headed to Karaka, the full sister Age of Fire, by Fastnet Rock from Galileo mare Dragon's Tail will be a must inspect.



She is consigned by Hallmark Stud as Lot 172.

And she's not the only Fastnet Rock from a Galileo mare in the sale with Curraghmore Stud to offer Lot 25, a bay filly from Group II placed Galileo mare Amory Lane.



This filly is a full sister to Group II placed Sailing By.
