First Win for Zoustar Half-Brother

Tara Madgwick - Thursday December 17

Irish bred two year-old Galileo colt Kondo Isami broke his maiden overnight on the all weather track at Chelmsford in the UK.

The half-brother to champion three year-old sprinter and champion sire Zoustar was having his third start after placing at his first two and scored a three length victory in the 1m2f novice handicap.

Trained by Mark Johnston for Japanese owners Toshihro Matsumoto and partners, Kondo Isami was bred by Coolmore, but passed in shy of his reserve when offered for sale as a yearling.

Kondo Isami is the fifth winner from Redoute’s Choice mare Zouzou, who was bought by Coolmore for $775,000 at the 2014 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale.

Zouzou has had three foals in the Northern Hemisphere by Galileo that have all raced with stakes-placed Emperor of the Sun the best of them.

Her first born Galileo foal, a filly called At Last (IRE) is now at stud in Australia for Coolmore and had her first foal this spring, a filly by Justify (USA).

Justify filly from Zoustar's half-sister At Last
