Rich Enuff Off The Mark

Mark Smith - Wednesday February 19

The first crop of Woodside Park’s Rich Enuff proved a smash hit at the sales last year, earning him a prominent spot on Breednet’s sire profitability ranking and the son of Written Tycoon is off and running with his first winner Plutocrat making the best possible start to her career over 1100 metres at Doomben on Wednesday.Plutocrat as a yearling

Trained by Chris Anderson and ridden by Stephanie Thornton, Plutocrat overcame greenness and a wide barrier to defeat Lemon Duchess (Tycoon Ruler) by three-quarter of a length with Miss Gold Bounty (Reward For Effort) a half-neck back in third.

Purchased by Anderson Heathcote Racing for $110,000 out of the Glenlogan Park draft at the 2019 Magic Millions Gold Coast March Yearling Sale, Plutocrat is raced by Glenlogan Park’s Jon Haseler.

“It is great Plutocrat is Rich Enuff's first winner and I am really happy for Woodside and Glenlogan," Anderson told AAP.

"Plutocrat might be something special as not many horses win from outside barriers from that start."

As a QTIS horse, Plutocrat is eligible for the $500,000 Two-Year-Old The Jewel at the Gold Coast on March 14.

The news will be welcomed by the connections of the 9 yearlings by Rich Enuff heading to the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale and to the vendors of the 15 lots heading to the Adelaide Magic Millions Yearling Sale.

It’s also a great fillip to Ross Hatton’s Rathmore Bloodstock, which purchased Plutocrat’s dam Personal Guarantee, who hales from the family of Group 1 ATC Vinery Stud Stakes and Group 1 Australian Oaks winner Verry Elleegant, for a client with a Real Saga colt at foot in early 2019.

The now yearling colt will be offered as lot 408 in the Rathmore Lodge draft at the Adelaide Magic Millions Sale.

Rich Enuff was a homebred by Louise and Ken Keys. He won three black-type races, highlighted by the Group II Danehill Stakes (1200m) at Flemington where he beat subsequent Group 1 winners and stallions Brazen Beau and Wandjina. He was placed a further four times from twelve starts while banking over $500,000.
