Fastnet Rock’s One Master Defends Foret Crown

Tara Madgwick - Monday October 7
Champion Australian sire Fastnet Rock featured at Longchamp in France on Arc day siring five year-old mare One Master to win the Group I Prix de la Foret, a race she also won last year.

Fastnet RockThe William Haggas trained mare took the seven furlong sprint by half a length taking her overall record to five wins from 15 starts.

"I've been waiting a year to run her over seven furlongs on soft ground," said William Haggas.

"I think she's got a bit quicker this year, so the plan is to go back to six furlongs and hope for similarly testing conditions in the sprint at Ascot (Qipco British Champions Sprint, October 19).

"Having spoken to the owners, there is a good chance she will stay in training next year."

"One Master is a lovely filly that wants soft ground. We got her up to 7f and she won well in Tipperary. She's done very well on roughish ground but she doesn't mind that, she's tough. Our plan had always been to keep her in training but now she's won a Group 1 we'll have to have a regroup," said William Haggas.

A homebred for Lael Stable, One Master is the best of three winners from Group III winning Pivotal mare Enticing,a daughter of Champion 2YO Filly Superstar Leo.

This family has already produced a Group I winner by Fastnet Rock in Rivet, who won the Group I Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster.
