Choisir Filly Another Star for Darby Racing

Tara Madgwick - Saturday October 5
Darby Racing have enjoyed Group I success in recent years with star fillies She Will Reign and Yankee Rose and look to have a another exciting prospect in flashy chestnut Choisir filly Every Rose, who looked the consummate professional in scoring a dominant debut victory in the Group III ATC Gimcrack Stakes at Randwick on Saturday.

Trained by Mark Newnham, Every Rose scored an easy win at the official barrier trials at Randwick last month and carried that good form forward to race day.

Every Rose - images Steve HartRidden by Josh Parr as she was in her barrier trial, Every Rose jumped well and quickly moved forward to take the lead on the fence and from there was never really challenged.

She kicked strongly from the turn and held a length and a quarter margin over runner up Stellar Pauline, the full sister to Group I winner Secret Agenda, with Vancouver's first crop daughter Ticket to Ride a fast closing third after zooming home from near last.

"I had to urge her slightly from the gate, but once she found the front she was very tractable and showed maturity well beyond her years," said Josh Parr.

"She showed good acceleration and toughed it out."

Every Rose was a $160,000 Magic Millions purchase for Darby / De Burgh Equine from the Tyreel Stud draft and has already banked $84,000 in prizemoney.

"We've got a lot of happy owners here and hopefully they'll be celebrating again in January after the Magic Millions 2YO Classic," said Mark Newnham.

Every Rose as a yearling"She's a very straight forward filly and can have a month off now and get ready for Magic Millions."

Bred by Wallings Bloodstock, Every Rose is a half-sister to two metropolitan winners being from Couredge, a half-sister by Show a Heart to Group II winner Vintedge and stakes-winner Youths Edge.

Couredge has a yearling filly by Hinchinbrook and has foaled this spring producing a filly by Hellbent.

Every Rose is the 96th stakes-winner for Coolmore's evergreen sire Choisir, who stands at a fee of $27,500.
