G1 Thousand Guineas Next for I Am Eloquent

Tara Madgwick - Saturday September 21
Progressive I Am Invincible filly I Am Eloquent handled a massive step up in grade to score a stylish victory in the Listed MRC Jim Moloney Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday staking her claim for the Group I MRC Thousand Guineas next month.

Trained by Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young, I Am Eloquent was a last start winner in a Class 1 event at Geelong so was sent out at long odds for this 1400 metre Black Type assignment, but rose to the challenge to race on the pace and kick clear to win by half a length.

I Am Eloquent - images Grant Courtney"It's been five weeks between runs and we've always known she's better when kept fresh," Young said.

"We always thought she'd be that Thousand Guineas type of girl and winning today like that shows we might be on the right track.

"She let down really nicely today and I think she'll get the mile.

"Kept nice and fresh she's got the turn of foot and if we keep that sprint in her legs, I reckon she'll get it."

A $220,000 Inglis Premier purchase from the draft of Two Bays Farm for First Light Racing / Busuttin Racing / P Willetts, I Am Eloquent has won three of six starts earning over $160,000 in prizemoney. She was bred by Two Bays Farm and is the first winner for Choisir stakes-winner Choice Words.

I Am Eloquent is the 48th stakes-winner for Yarraman Park's flagship sire I Am Invincible.
