First Win for Lankan Rupee Sibling

Tara Madgwick - Monday September 9
She will never be as quick as five time Group I wining Australian Horse of the Year Lankan Rupee, but his three-quarter sister Art Collection is now a winner after saluting in style at Wodonga on Monday.

Fastnet Rock is the sire of Art CollectionA three year-old filly by Fastnet Rock prepared by the Hayes Dabernig team at Lindsay Park, Art Collection has always show talent and was second on debut in the Group III VRC Maribyrnong Plate last spring when beaten a nose.

In four runs since, she had failed to win, but got the job done in the 1300 metre maiden today when surging clear to win by nearly three lengths favourite.

Retained to race by Coolmore, Art Collection is the fourth winner from four foals to race from Group III winning Stravinsky (USA) mare Estelle Collection, who was bought for $1.4million from the 2014 Teeley Assets Dispersal at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale.

Coolmore sold a Fastnet Rock colt at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale this year for $675,000 to the Hong Kong Jockey Club from Estelle Collection and she was covered last year by American Pharoah (USA) after missing to Fastnet Rock.
