The James Cummings trained Subedar was favourite for the 1300 metre maiden and duly opened his account with a half length win.
Subedar is the fourth winner from four foals to race from Anabaa’s dual Group I winning daughter Virage de Fortune, who was bought by Darley for $3.4 million at the 2007 Inglis Easter Broodmare Sale.
A grand-daughter of the legendary mare Emancipation, Virage de Fortune is yet to produce a Black Type horse, but does have more to come in the pipeline with a rising two year-old by Exceed and Excel called Reverse and she is in foal to Darley’s Group I winner Holler.
Subedar’s sire Sepoy stands at Darley Victoria this spring at a fee of $11,000.
