Trained by James Cummings, Sepoy gelding Pandemic has been given time to mature
and was a well backed favourite for the 1000 metre juvenile maiden. He surged
to the line from off the pace to win by a length and a half in a brisk 57.42
seconds.A half-brother to Group I winner Earthquake and stakes-winner Palomares, he is the seventh winner from seven to race from stakes-placed Marauding mare Cataclysm.
Cataclysm has a weanling colt by Kermadec and was covered last year by Epaulette.
Pandemic is another smart winner for Golden Slipper winner Sepoy, who is now based at Darley Victoria at a fee of $11,000.
