Royal Ascot Contender for Brazen Beau

Tara Madgwick - Friday June 7
Darley young gun Brazen Beau posted an impressive winner at Haydock in the UK overnight with connections indicating Royal Ascot was next on the agenda for Dubai Station.

Brazen BeauSecond on debut last month, the Karl Burke trained colt was an easy one length winner over five furlongs and hit the line full of running.

"He is a lovely horse who wants six furlongs, but he probably doesn't want that real soft ground he had today. The owner is keen to go to Royal Ascot if we can and the easier races generally are the five-furlong ones, so I wanted to see if he was quick enough, and I'm sure he is," said Karl Burke.

"He wouldn't disgrace himself over five, but he'll be better over six and Jamie was very happy with him. I think the Hannons like the second horse (Patridge) and we gave her weight. Jamie had to give our fella couple of reminders but I think that was just labouring on the ground. All options are open at Ascot and he'll be in the Norfolk and Windsor Castle and possibly the Coventry. We'll see how he comes out of this race and discuss it, but whatever he does at Ascot he's got a future later in the year."

Dubai Station was a 30,000 guinea purchase from the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale and is the first winner for Princess Guest, a half-sister by Iffraaj to stakes-winner Imperial Guest.

Dubai Station is the fifth Northern Hemisphere first crop winner for I Am Invincible's champion son Brazen Beau who also has four winners in Australia including stakes-winner Accession, who is a leading contender for the Group I BRC JJ Atkins Plate at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

Brazen Beau stands at Darley Victoria this spring at a fee of $49,500.
