Newgate Farm's Deep Field is attacking the line as we move towards the end of the racing season posting two quick winners on Friday to bring his overall tally to 14.

King's Champ - Steve HartOpening the big first day of the annual Friday/Saturday Scone meeting was promising two year-old colt King's Champ, who beat older rivals to win the open maiden over 1000 metres

Trained by Gerald Ryan and ridden by James McDonald, he was a hot favourite and after settling midfield from a wide gate, he charged to the line to win as he pleased by two lengths.

A homebred for Sun Stud, King's Champ is the first winner for triple Group I winner Yosei.

Also opening her account at Murwillumbah was two year-old filly Underwood, who scored by a short half head as favourite in the 1100 metre scamper.

Standing at a fee of $44,000 this spring, Deep Field now moves to 14 winners and is in hot pursuit of the division leader by winners Better Than Ready, who is on 16 winners.
