First Aussie Winner for Zebedee

Tara Madgwick - Saturday May 4

ZEBEDEE, Cornerstone's imported son of INVINCIBLE SPIRIT delivered on his promise when LUFF (2yo gelding by ZEBEDEE) set sail for home with a commanding four  length win against the older horses on Friday afternoon at Muswelbrook.

ZebedeeRattling home in under 33.4sec, the Jeremy Sylvester trained grey made good on his debut second back in January and the gelding looks set for a city future off the back of that win.

ZEBEDEE may have knocked up 32 winners in his 1stNorthern Hemisphere crop, but "the luck of the Irish" had been running light for the 1st season stallion that had already produced 8 individual runners for a host of placed performers.

"I am delighted to see his luck change" chirped a delighted Sam Hayes "That said, there was certainly a sense of divination about LUFF winning as the 2nd dam is by JEUNE, the 3rd dam by BLUEBIRD and the 4th dam by WITHOUT FEAR. All stallions that flew the flag for the family in years gone by."

LUFF was bred and sold by Two Bays Farm in Victoria and the up and coming nursery presented the colt at the Inglis Classic Sale and realised $50,000 for the striking grey colt.

"More so than anything else, this win cements my belief in finding stallions that offer a successful outcross to Danehill line stallions as LUFF is out of a FASTNET ROCK mare."

ZEBEDEE is entering into his 5th season and standing at a modest fee of $9,900 for a proven son of INVINCIBLE SPIRIT, that already has a son at stud with Coolmore standing IVAWOOD. Sam Hayes and the Cornerstone team are keen to addressthe ground swell of despondency from breeders wanting to use proven stallions, but are beingpriced out of a commercial ventures with service fees that are too steep.

"We are keen to discuss your mating options for the coming breeding season and please make use of my team here to help make the most of your thoroughbred investments" Said Sam from his Barossa Valley Base.
