Winners Flow for Sizzling

Tara Madgwick - Monday April 1
Newgate Farm's Sizzling followed up a winning treble on Saturday with another impressive two year-old winner in Calescent at Wagga on Monday.

SizzlingThe Matthew Dale trained filly was having her first start since finishing down the field on debut in the Group III ATC Gimcrack Stakes last spring, but showed the benefit of a good spell with a super performance.

Sent out a short priced favourite, Calescent drove forward from the gates to take up the lead on the fence and skipped away off the turn before fighting off a determined to challenge from the runner-up to win by half a length with a good gap back to the next horse home.

Calescent was a modest $32,500 Inglis Classic Session II purchase from the Eureka Stud draft for Darby Racing / De Burgh Equine and is the first winner for Pimlico Girl, a three-quarter sister to Group II winner Churchill Downs.

Calescent is the fourth winner in three days for Sizzling who sired Bondi Boy and Burbank to win at Wyong on Saturday and classy Group III placed Secret Blaze to win the $135,000 Open 3YO at Bendigo over 2200 metres.
