10 2YO Winners for Showcasing

Media Release - Thursday February 28
Former Haunui Farm stallion Showcasing (GB) (Oasis Dream) has continued his dominance of 2YO racing in New Zealand with winner number 10 at Counties today, Enjoy The Show (NZ).

ShowcasingIn fact, Showcasing has dominated the 2YO Sires Table since his first crop hit the tracks in the 2014/2015 season landing the title as Champion 2YO and First Season Sire, and he's headed the table by number of winners since the 2015/2016 season.

Haunui Farm's Mark Chitty says, "It's been a long time since a New Zealand stallion has had that many 2YO winners. We went back to the 2006/2007 season as that's as far back as we could go on Arion and the next closest is 8 and that was Showcasing last year and Iffraaj in the 2013/2014 season.

"The benchmark for 2YO racing is obviously Australia and I Am Invincible leads that charge with 12 winners but he's had 40 starters, Showcasing has only had 15!"

Showcasing's 2YO roll of honour in NZ this season includes the stakes performers Appellant – 3rdin the Karaka Million and Listed Wellesley Stakes – Last Sight and Rainbow Dash who, like She's A Thief last season, was beaten a nose in the G2 Matamata Breeders' Stakes . Since his first Southern Hemisphere crop hit the tracks, Showcasing has sired 16 2YO stakes performers in NZ from 40 starters including six stakes winners, amongst them Karaka Million winner Hardline and, G2 Wakefield Challenge Stakes winners Showboy and Xpression.
