One to Watch – Kembla

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday February 5
Astute country trainer Tracey Bartley has a happy knack for unearthing smart horses from humble beginnings and this up and comer has put the spotlight on the Highway Session of the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale next week.

Eurozone is the sire of McCormackA debut winner at Hawkesbury last November, three year-old Eurozone gelding McCormack reappeared in the Class Two sprint over 1000 metres and proved much too good for the hot favourite Royal Witness from the Joe Pride stable.

McCormack settled fourth in the field of five and zoomed to the line win by more than a length in a slick 56.17 seconds and is now two for two with over $33,000 in the bank for connections.

McCormack was a $25,000 purchase from the Inglis Select Weanling Sale from the Caramar Park draft, but failed to make a $30,000 reserve when re-offered at the 2017 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, however is certainly proving his worth now.

He is the second winner from All Black Girl, a half-sister by Canny Lad to Group I winner Mr Bureaucrat and full sister to stakes-winner All Black Gold. Further down the page we see Group I VRC Oaks winner Lasqueti Spirit, so it's a family not lacking in quality.

McCormack is a bright prospect for young Northern Meteor sire son Eurozone, whose oldest progeny are three year-olds. He has five entries for the Highway Session at Inglis Classic next week all of them BOBS eligible.
