Eurozone Filly Wins Darby Munro

Tara Madgwick - Saturday March 23
The Listed ATC Darby Munro Stakes at Rosehill on Saturday was supposed to be the next step up for undefeated three year-old Classique Legend, but a tough run posted three wide on the lead saw him in trouble at the finish with quality Victorian visitor Krone surging late to snatch a narrow win.

A stakes-winner at two with form last spring behind top class fillies Amphitrite and Mystic Journey, the Mick Price trained Krone has always had a touch of class despite having won only one of her previous 11 starts.

"She was finishing well and when they started to tire I thought she could win," Oliver said.

"The fact she can handle wet tracks is a big plus in Sydney at this time of year."

A $120,000 Magic Millions 2YO's in Training purchase for Roll the Dice Racing, Krone has been a great success for her big team of owners and has won over $250,000 in prizemoney with The Championships next month offering her further opportunities for success.

She's been a financial success for all who have had any connection to her as she made $30,000 as a weanling at Magic Millions when offered by her breeders Bell View Park and then $60,000 as a yearling when bought by Rosemont Stud at Magic Millions from the Widden Stud draft.

Krone is the best of two winners from Soft Landing, a half-sister by Al Maher to Group I winner Universal Prince and Universal Queen. She has a yearling colt by Kermadec that made $40,000 at the Adelaide Magic Millions and a weanling filly by Fighting Sun.

Krone is the best offspring to date for Northern Meteor's high class Group I placed son Eurozone, who stands at Newgate Farm.
