G1 Guineas Next for Eurozone Filly

Tara Madgwick - Monday October 8
Zoustar is not the only Northern Meteor son doing good things this season as we head into the business end of the Melbourne Spring Carnival.

EurozoneThe Darren Weir trained Eurozone filly Krone has been set for the Group I MRC Thousand Guineas for her whole spring preparation and showed she was cherry ripe for her grand final this week when finishing second last Saturday in the Group II VRC Edward Manifold Stakes.

A stakes-winner last season at two, Krone has finished third, fourth and second at her three runs this time in and there is the feeling she is working up to a win following her latest performance.

Slowly away, Krone recovered to steam home and finish second to her stablemate Amphitrite beaten a length and three-quarters.

Weir said it was always the intention for Krone to back-up in the Group I MRC Thousand Guineas at Caulfield.

"I'm not sure about the winner (Amphitrite) , but Krone definitely heads that way, that was the plan all along," Weir said.

A $120,000 Magic Millions 2YO's in Training purchase for Roll the Dice Racing, Krone has been a great success for her big team of owners and has already won over $160,000 in prizemoney.

She's been a financial success for all who have had any connection to her as she made $30,000 as a weanling at Magic Millions when offered by her breeders Bell View Park and then $60,000 as a yearling when bought by Rosemont Stud at Magic Millions from the Widden Stud draft.

Krone is the best of two winners from Soft Landing, a half-sister by Al Maher to Group I winner Universal Prince and Universal Queen.

Krone is the best offspring to date for Northern Meteor's high class Group I placed son Eurozone, who stands at Newgate at the affordable fee of $11,000.
