Magic Victory for Invincibella

Tara Madgwick - Saturday January 12
Champion trainer Chris Waller posted an early double on Magic Millions Day at the Gold Coast with top class I Am Invincible mare Invincibella claiming the $1million MM Filly and Mare (1300m) for the second year in a row, just after her stablemate Tumultuous did likewise when winning the $1million MM Trophy.

Carrying the famed Star Thoroughbreds colours of Denise Martin's syndication company, five year-old Invincibella won the race by a short half head last year as an up and comer progressing from restricted grades, but in the 12 months since has blossomed into a serious Group performer.

Invincibella wins at the Gold Coast again! Group II wins in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne made 2018 a great year for Invincibella (images Steve Hart ) and her big team of owners, but 2019 has certainly started with a bang.

Give a good ride by Hugh Bowman, Invincibella charged to the line to win by a short neck taking her overall record to nine wins and 12 placings from 34 starts with prizemoney in excess of $2million.

"Maybe I can convince Denise (Martin) to have another crack next year rather than go to stud. It is one of the benefits of these type of races that it keeps horses racing longer," Waller said.

"But what else can I say. She is a class act who had a bit on most of these. Since she won here last time she has raced in many of the good black type races and not been disgraced."

A $185,000 Magic Millions purchase for Star Thoroughbreds from the Sledmere Stud draft, Invincibella is a half-sister to Group placed Secret Blaze and is the first foal of unraced Galileo (IRE) mare Abscond, who comes from the family of Group I winner The Hind.

Abscond produced a colt by Extreme Choice last year and was then covered by Spirit of Boom..
