Exceed And Excel Chalks Up 150

Mark Smith - Saturday October 20

In what was a red-letter day for Godolphin, the win of the 4yo mare Resin in Saturday's Group III Nivison Stakes at Randwick was of special significance.

With Rachel King in the saddle, the daughter of Exceed And Excel and the Group 1 winning Lonhro mare Beaded rang up number one in a stakes race for the first time with a dominant two and a quarter lengths win over win over her fast-finishing stablemate Almanzora (Lonhro) with Eckstein (I Am Invincible) another short half head third. "She's been a highly promising filly for us all the way through. It's been three weeks she won at Randwick and she really excels on this type of ground, Beaded her mom was a real swimmer," stable representative Darren Beadman said.

"This is a monumental feat because she is Exceed And Excel's 150th stakes-winner, so it's very rewarding.

"Our other filly, Almanzora, came from last and for her to get some black-type as well is a win-win for everyone concerned.

"It was a lovely ride by Rachel, she seems to get on well with the mare. She got her in a nice rhythm and got to the right part of the track.

"She's not one to mention it but she can ride anywhere in the field, good on soft ground, firm ground, any distance, I'm a big fan of Rachel."

A half-sister to the talented Street Cry gelding Bezel, Resin is the second foal of the Group 1 BRC Doomben 10000 heroine Beaded.

A half-sister to Group III winner Rarefied, Beaded passed away in December last year. Her final foal is the unraced 2yo Exceed And Excel filly Lesage.

Darley stalwart Exceed And Excel is currently covering his 15th book of mares at a fee of $82,500.
