Mark Smith - Friday January 10

An emotional Ian Smith watched on as bidding reached $1 million for Edinburgh Stud’s stunning Exceed And Excel colt out of the Smoke Glacken mare Smokin’ Alice (USA) to set a new benchmark for the stud.

Smith has hit it out of the park with Smokin’ Alice (USA) who hails from the family of Criterion.

Her previous three foals to sell as yearlings have made $240,000 (a Medaglia d’Oro filly), $230,000 (Fastnet Rock colt), and $680,000 (another Fastnet Rock colt).

Both of the Fastnet Rock colts have had significant updates from when the catalogue was printed.
