Invincible Fillies Quinella G2 Furious

Tara Madgwick - Saturday September 1
The Group II ATC Darley Furious Stakes is the second leg of the Darley Princess Series and produced a quinella for leading sire I Am Invincible with his brilliant grey filly Pure Elation prevailing over Fiesta, who won the first leg of the series, the Group II ATC Silver Shadow Stakes last month.

Having her first run since being barred for bleeding when winning the Group II ATC Percy Sykes Stakes at Randwick during the Autumn Carnival, Pure Elation showed she had lost none of her brilliance when scoring a length win over Fiesta in the 1200 metre sprint.

Pure Elation returns to scaleShe tracked the leaders from barrier one under Michael Walker and despite becoming unbalanced when seeking an inside run after turning for home had too much speed for her rivals.

Pure Elation's next start, likely to be the Group II Tea Rose Stakes (1400m) back at Randwick in a fortnight, will determine whether the daughter of I Am Invincible pushes on to the Group I Flight Stakes (1600m) or reverts to short distances for races like the Group I VRC Coolmore Stud Stakes.

"She's probably got a long spring ahead of her so we'll see how she goes next time but she might be just that little bit too brilliant to get out over ground," Paul Snowden said.

A $320,000 Inglis Premier purchase for Paul Moroney Bloodstock from the Swettenham Stud draft, Pure Elation runs for Sir Owen Glenn's Go Bloodstock and has won three of six starts earning over $667,000 in prizemoney.

She was the second winner on the day to carry the colours of Sir Owen Glenn joining Comin' Through, who won the Group II ATC Tramway Stakes.

Pure Elation is the first foal of stakes-winning Hussonet (USA) mare Members Joy, who has a yearling colt by Toronado (IRE). She was bought by the Newstar Partnership at the Inglis Chairmans Sale last year for $500,000 and was covered by Flying Artie last year producing a colt foal on August 18.

Pure Elation and Fiesta are set for successful spring campaigns highlighting their sire I Am Invincible, who is fully booked this spring at a Yarraman at a fee of $192,500.
