Rosemont Stud based Extreme Warrior is one of three sons of Extreme Choice that have their first two year-old runners this season along with Stay Inside and Tiger of Malay and he featured at Inglis Premier Book 2 on Tuesday when topping the session with a $220,000 colt.
Rosemont Stud presented a colt from Who’s Zooming Who that fetched $220,000 when sold to Lloyd Kennewell Racing / Group One Bloodstock / SP Bloodstock to be the equal highest price for Tuesday.
While the Newgate based duo of Stay Inside and Tiger of Malay have good fertility, Extreme Warrior has been more challenging for the team at Rosemont, but persistence may well pay dividends.
Extreme Warrior has had six starters so far for two winners and a place-getter with his star performer the stakes-winner Eternal Warrior, who is trained by Lloyd Kennewell.
He beat Stretan Ruler to win the Listed MRC Merson Cooper Stakes in the spring and has had no luck with barriers at his past two starts when third to Closer to Free in the Group III MRC Blue Diamond Prelude and sixth in the Group I MRC Blue Diamond.
Extreme Warrior finished Inglis Premier with six yearlings selling across Books 1 and 2 at an average $117,500 and while his star came on Tuesday with the $220,000 colt from Who’s Zooming Who, Rosemont also sold colts from Small Minds and Grammys for $180,000 and $160,000.
Strong results for a stallion that was priced last spring at $13,200.
Rosemont’s Anthony Mithen was not surprised to be in the spotlight with the colt from Who’s Zooming Who.
“I’ve been told since we started parades by plenty of good judges that he’s the best colt of the sale…so he stood out to everyone,” he said.
“We’ve never had a busier horse. I checked an hour before he went into the ring…and with our ThoroughWorks data we couldn’t find a horse that had been out of the box more at any stage that we’ve presented horses at sales.’’
