One to Watch - Gosford

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday July 3
A full sister to smart Group II placed filly Serena Bay, this Sebring filly was a stylish debut winner at Gosford on Tuesday for the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott stable.

SebringTwo year-old Wimlah proved a touch too good for her older rivals in the 1000 metre maiden, leading all the way in the heavy conditions to win by half a length making it a winning double on the day for Sebring, who won the first race with Dante Rossetti, also trained by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott.

A $240,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Edinburgh Park draft for her trainers, Wimlah runs for a big group of owners that includes her breeder Ian Smith and the Onedream Racing Syndicate managed by John Cheng, who won his share in the Inglis Win a Share in a Racehorse competition run in conjunction with the Daily Telegraph.

Wimlah is the third winner from three foals to race from stakes-winner Caiguna, whose current yearling, another filly by Sebring, made $150,000 at Inglis Easter this year.

She is the 13th two year-old winner this season for Sebring, who stands at a fee of $66,000.
