First Winner for War

Tara Madgwick - Sunday July 1
Blue Gum Farm's young sire War posted his first winner at Devonport in Tasmania on Sunday when the promising filly Kwai scored a debut win for the Barry Campbell Stable in the Star Thoroughbreds colours.

WarKwai was a short priced favourite following a facile barrier trial win on Jun5 and coasted home and easy two length winner in the 1000 metre maiden beating older rivals.

A $45,000 Magic Millions Tasmania purchase from the Armidale Stud draft for Star Thoroughbreds / Boomer Bloodstock, Kwai runs in the sole ownership of Star Thoroughbreds principal Denise Martin.

She is the second winner from Pontington, a half-sister by Delago Brom to stakes-winners Black Vanquish and Minnesota Shark from Group II winner Ponton Flyer.

A Group III winning son of More Than Ready (USA) from the Denise's Joy family, War stands at a fee of $6,600.
