This year the race is worth a staggering $13 Million and Triple Crown will be joining forces with Mr Zhang’s Yulong Investments to race the leading son of Champion Sire Snitzel in the coveted race at Royal Randwick on October 13, 2018.
During a stellar 2017, Redzel went unbeaten in six runs from April, collecting the Group 1 pair of the Doomben 10,000 and Darley Classic, in addition to The Everest, to be widely acknowledged as the most feared sprinter on the planet.
After spending a rejuvenating six weeks in the spelling paddock, Redzel is back into his work at Snowden Racing’s Randwick stable, with co-trainer Peter Snowden plotting a repeat success in the showpiece event.
"He looks amazing,” said Snowden. "He’s really enjoyed his break and has had an easy week back in the stable just trotting and cantering and is very fresh in himself.
"He’s come back in great condition and we’ll be stepping up his work shortly.
"It’s great to have the slot in the race locked in early this year and that gives us time to prepare him with the sole focus of retaining that title. We'll let him come to hand and we can work out a programme leading into The Everest from there.
"It was a fantastic moment for not just myself but my family as well when winning the race last year, the day had a really special feel about it and we can’t wait to be involved once more.”
