Godolphin Support VOBIS Sires

Godolphin has shown its support for the VOBIS Sires initiative having nominated all their Victorian-based Darley stallions for the 2018 season.

Brazen BeauThat gives all of their progeny a shot at the $1 million Showdown, a race exclusively for two-year-olds by VOBIS Sires nominated stallions. All progeny of these stallions can also access the $24 million on offer through VOBIS bonuses and VOBIS prizemoney each and every year.

Promising young sire Brazen Beau and Lonhro's dual Group 1 winner Impending head the list of eligible Darley stallions nominated this year.

Darley's General Manager in Victoria, Andy Makiv, said, "This is a terrific initiative by Thoroughbred Breeders Victoria and Racing Victoria and presents great opportunities for Victorian broodmare owners, racehorse owners and trainers."

The progeny of all VOBIS Sires'-nominated stallions will be eligible to compete in two exclusive races run annually on the Victorian Owners and Breeders Raceday, held at Caulfield Racecourse:

  • The Showdown, a $1 million two-year-old race over 1,200 metres to be run for the first time in April 2019; and
  • $500,000 three-year-old race over 1,600 metres to be run for the first time in April 2020.

Darley Northwood sires Brazen Beau, Street Boss, Reset and Kuroshio were nominated for the inaugural year of VOBIS Sires in 2015. This means that all their 2016 foals are eligible (if nominated to Super VOBIS and VOBIS Gold) to race in the very first edition of the $1 million Showdown next April.

Darley stallions nominated for VOBIS Sires in 2018 are Brazen Beau,Frosted ,Street Boss , Impending, Reset ,Holler ,Sepoy and Kuroshio.
