Star Witness Winner for Teeley Assets

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday June 13
Gelding seems to have been a good gear change for promising Star Witness three year-old Sparkly Star, who returned from a spell to score a stylish win at Warwick Farm on Wednesday.

Sparkly Star as a yearlingTrained by Gerald Ryan, Sparkly Star had four starts during the spring for two thirds and two fourths, but showed good improvement from those efforts on his return.

He was sent out favourite for the 1100 metre maiden and cruised home for Brenton Avdulla to win by a length and three-quarters.

Sparkly Star runs in the colours of Teeley Assets, whose most famous runner has been champion sire Redoute's Choice.

Sparkly Star was a $100,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Widden Stud draft and is a full brother to this season's highly promising two year-old Graff being the second winner from Group III winning Keep the Faith mare Dinkum Diamond.

Widden Stud sold the full sister to Graff and Sparkly Star at Magic Millions for $320,000 and she has a weanling filly to follow by Shamus Award. Dinkum Diamond was covered last spring by another of the Widden sires in Your Song.
