South African Winner for Fiorente

Melbourne Cup winner Fiorente (IRE) featured with this first winner in South Africa on Sunday when two year-old filly Fariha broke her maiden in style at Tuffontein.

Fariha as a yearlingHaving her third start after finishing fourth and third in March and May, the Mike de Kock trained filly was favourite for the 1600 metre maiden and forged clear to win by two lengths.

A $70,000 Inglis Premier purchase from the Sun Stud draft for Form Bloodstock, Fariha runs for Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum.

Bred by Sun Kingdom, she is the second winner for Goody Two Shoes (IRE), a half-sister by Encosta de Lago to Group I winner Sligo Bay.

Sun Stud sold the current yearling from Goody Two Shoes, a colt by Fastnet Rock, for $300,000 at Magic Millions this year and the mare is due to foal to Palentino this spring.

Fariha is the second winner for Fiorente, who stands at Sun Stud this spring at a fee of $17,600.
