$115,000 Fiorente Colt Tops Tassie MM

A colt by Fiorente sold for $115,000 and topped a record breaking 2019 Magic Millions Tasmanian Yearling Sale in Launceston today.

$115,000 Fiorente colt from Love the MomentThe colt catalogued as Lot 63 was offered by Armidale Stud and sold to leading Victorian based buyer Brad Spicer.

"He's a lovely staying type of horse," Spicer said. "The Fiorentes are really starting to hit their straps and there's not many opportunities to buy one in the market this year."

"The colt is very similar to a smart Fiorente I have athome called Little Phoenix who has shown good things in two starts with Chris Waller."

"He looks like a horse who we could develop into a Derby type. He's from a mare who was third in a Tasmanian Oaks, he's an exciting prospect."

The Fiorente was the top seller of a sale which returned an all-time record gross of almost $3 million and an increased clearance rate of 77 per cent.

Local buyer Leigh Winwood has tasted incredible success with past Tasmanian Yearling Sale graduates and he went to $100,000 to secure Lot 116, the Charge Forward colt from Tara's Spur offered by Grenville Stud.

Winwood has led the ownership groups of star sale graduates including Royal Rapture, Kenjorwood and Queen La Diva.

Leading local trainers Scott Brunton (7 lots at $244,000) and Adam Trinder (5 lots at $157,500) led the way on the buyers list on spend.

"This sale continues to go from strength to strength," Magic Millions Managing Director Barry Bowditch said. "To again have a record gross here in Tasmania is an amazing result for the breeders."
