One to Watch – Ballarat

Tara Madgwick - Sunday June 3
Widden Stud’s exciting young sire Zoustar is powering to the back end of the season with a flurry of impressive winners and you can add this Ciaron Maher trained colt to the list.

Star Fall as a yearlingStar Fall did plenty wrong at his first start back in April when finishing fifth at Caulfield as favourite, but punters were prepared to be forgiving and he was sent out a hot favourite for the 1200 metre juvenile maiden at Ballarat on Sunday.

He quickly found the front for Linda Meech before skipping clear to win as he pleased with three and three-quarter lengths the official margin.

A $250,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Woodside Park draft for his trainer, Star Fall is the first foal of stakes-winning import Snow Bell (Fr), whose current yearling, another colt by Zoustar, made $300,000 at Inglis Easter when snapped up by good judge Carmel Size.

Star Fall is the eighth winner for Zoustar, who stands at Widden Stud at a fee of $60,500 this spring.
