Hellbent is enjoying a fabulous spring with seasonal progeny earnings topping $7million and 45 Australian winners including stakes-winners Magic Time, Savvy Hallie and Boston Rocks, plus million dollar race winners Vivy Air and Revengeance with his good form extending to Hong Kong where he sired a double on Sunday with a pair of lightly raced 4YO’s on the up.
Astute trainer Mark Newnham paid $425,000 at the 2023 NZB Ready to Run Sale to secure a promising two year-old by Hellbent and Invincible Ibis notched his second win on Sunday from just five starts.
He scored by a length as favourite for Zac Purton in the 1400m Class 3 contest finishing off from back in the field to win with authority.
Invincible Ibis was a super successful pinhook for Kilgravin Lodge, sourced form the Widden Stud draft at Inglis Classic for just $80,000 by Kilgravin Lodge/ Waikato Bloodstock.
Invincible Ibis is the second winner from My Dear Friend, a winning half-sister by General Nediym to Aussie bred South African Group I winner Harry’s Son.
Making it a double for Hellbent later in the evening was the Ricky Yiu trained Sky Joy, who made it three wins and two seconds from just five starts when scoring by half a length in the Class 3 sprint over 1200m.
He was too good for quality Australian Group winner Public Attention, the grey son of Written Tycoon having his first start in Hong Kong.
A $24,000 Inglis Classic purchase from Yarraman Park, Sky Joy was re-offered at the Inglis Ready 2 Race Sale where he made $210,000 for JCS Racing when bought by Ricky Yiu.
Sky Joy is the third winner from three foals to race from Magic of Dreams, a winning half-sister by Magic Albert to Group III winner Fine Bubbles from stakes-winner Pekalan.

Hellbent fans can expect see a crackerjack selection of his yearlings at sales in 2026 coming from his first year when Yarraman Park raised his fee to $38,500.
He has 21 entries for Magic Millions and 18 for Inglis Classic.
