Fifth Winner for Shamus Award

Tara Madgwick - Saturday May 26
Cox Plate hero Shamus Award had an impressive winner at Cranbourne on Friday evening with two year-old gelding Shamino dashing clear to win as he pleased.

Shamus AwardHaving his second starts following an encouraging debut third at Mornignton earlier this month, the David Brideoake trained youngster shared the lead with runner-up Yulong May, but proved much the better in the run to the line.

He forged clear to win the 1000 metre maiden by two lengths.

Retained to race by his breeder, Shamino is the third winner from good Victorian metro winner Elumino, a winner of nearly $300,000 in prizemoney by El Moxie (USA).

Shamino is the fifth winner (one in the Phillippines) for Shamus Award, who stands this spring at a fee of $11,000.
