Redoute’s Choice Winner for Coolmore

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday May 23
We don't often see the Coolmore navy blue carried by winners sired by Redoute's Choice, but the $360,000 outlaid by Tom Magnier on a daughter of Arrowfield Stud's champion sire at Inglis Easter last year looks to have been money well spent.

Pedicel as a yearlingPrepared by the Hayes Dabernig training partnership, two year-old filly Pedicel has been given time to mature and looked a very promising type when powering home late to score a half neck win in a competitive fillies maiden event at Canterbury on Wednesday.

Winning rider James Mcdonald rode the filly in her only two previous trials at Randwick and Rosehill earlier this month and sees her as a filly with a future.

"She's a lovely filly and will be even better as she matures and gets out to a mile," he said.

Bred by Robrick Lodge and consigned by Arrowfield, Pedicel is a half-sister to Group III winner Nettoyer and is the fourth winner from Cleanup, a half-sister by Dehere (USA) to Group III winner She's Clean, who is by Pedicel's sire Redoute's Choice.

Further down the pedigree page are Redoute's Choice's two Oaks winning full sisters Absolutely and Abbey Marie, so it's no surprise James Mcdonald sees Pedicel as a candidate to run further.
